Melee DPS, off-tank
Greatsword bruiser: he charges in, knocks enemies down, slams the ground and heals as he hits. Easy to level and fearsome in duels, he becomes demanding at endgame (Rage Burst windows, frontal hits, MP management and animation cancels).

Tank
The only true tank in AION 2: sword and shield, taunts, crowd control, group shields and a party-wide damage buff every time it blocks (Fury). Since the Korean rework of August–September 2026 — whose values are already in the global client — its damage revolves around Judgment, opened by its shield skills. Always welcome in groups, slow when solo.

Healer
Mace-wielding main healer and the only class that can resurrect an ally. Heals at 40 m (Radiant Recovery, Healing Light, Light of Regeneration), buffs the party (Light of Protection, Earth’s Blessing) and deals real damage at 20 m between heals through the Chain of Torment → Condemnation loop. Easy to pick up, demanding in responsibility: in a dungeon, if the Cleric falls, nobody can raise them.

Melee DPS
Daggers, stealth and back attacks: the Assassin engraves Insignia, detonates them and recasts Heart Gore on every critical hit. Its strength is the 15–20 s burst under Illusive Clone and Swift Contract; its difficulty is staying behind the boss and timing those buffs on the right phases. Very mobile and dangerous in solo PvP, it stays fragile and depends on a tank.

Ranged DPS
A highly mobile archer: almost every attack fires on the move from 20 m, which gives it the best damage uptime in boss fights (the most represented class in Korean and Taiwanese PvE top-100 rankings, August 2026). Fragile, it survives through kiting, life drain and traps. In PvP it shines in mass fights and takes more skill in 1v1.

Magic DPS
Spellbook caster: fire deals the damage (Blaze, Firestorm, Hellfire, ground effects) while frost controls (Slow, Root, Frost). Excellent at area damage and in mass PvP, fragile in melee range, it lives off its cooldown loop (Wish of Concentration) and its MP. Easy to level, demanding at endgame.

Magic DPS, summons
Orb summoner: fights from 20 m alongside a spirit (fire, water, earth or wind) and a temporary Ancient Spirit. Every spirit skill grants an element; at four, Elemental Fusion, its biggest hit, lights up. Very safe for levelling and solo play, it asks at endgame for a tight summon-and-buff order and careful MP management. In PvP: fear, seal, anti-heal and buff stripping.

Every class reaches the endgame. Pick a role first: the Templar holds the monsters, the Cleric heals, the Chanter empowers the group while fighting, and the other five deal the damage, in melee or at range. Difficulty shows how hard the class is to play well, early on and at endgame.
