AION 2 Stigma Guide: Slots, Shards and Best Picks per Class

A stigma is a special skill you unlock at level 22 and level up with Stigma Shards. On Global you equip 4 (levels 22, 27, 32 and 37), each going up to level 20 for 75 shards; in Korea you carry 6 up to level 25. Level your core stigma first, after bringing the others to level 5.

What a stigma is in AION 2

Every class has 13 stigmas, listed in a separate tab from its 22 base skills. They are long-cooldown skills that define your build: big area damage, control, personal defensives or party buffs. You register them in dedicated slots and level them with Stigma Shards, not skill points. You cannot equip or swap them mid-combat.

Unlocking and equipping your stigmas (Global)

  1. Reach level 22

Also finish the Ascension quest "The One Who Hears the Voice": without it, the Stigma tab stays closed.

  2. Collect the reward

It gives 1 Stigma Shard, just enough to learn your first stigma at level 1.

  3. Learn and register

Open Skills, the Stigma tab, pick a stigma and place it in a slot.

  4. Unlock the other slots

They open at levels 27, 32 and 37: at 37 you carry all 4 stigmas.

  5. Save a preset

Stigmas are stored in skill presets: make one for PvE and one for PvP.

Stigma Shards: how many do you need, and where to find them

Stigma levelsCost per levelRunning total
1 to 51 shard5
6 to 102 shards15
11 to 154 shards35
16 to 208 shards75

A level 20 stigma therefore costs 75 shards, and four level 20 stigmas cost 300. Leveling only gives 29 by level 45 (1 per level from 23 to 39, 2 per level from 40 to 45), plus 1 from the Ascension quest: enough for four stigmas at level 5 and a single one at level 10. The rest comes from elsewhere:

  • The Abyss shop, which sells shards for Abyss Points with a per-character limit: the first purchase to make.
  • The Nightmare and Shugo Festival shops: 35 shards maximum per character and per shop.
  • Achievements (2 shards per milestone), the Battle Pass and level 45 rift quests.
  • Unstable Shards, dropped by expeditions and chests, which Substance Morph turns into Stigma Shards.

These figures come from the Global client tables (version 2.0.3.0, read by MetaBot). The 4 slots and their unlock levels are confirmed by Game8 and by the official 4 September livestream; shop prices still need checking in game.

Specializations: what levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 unlock

Each stigma has four specializations that switch on by themselves at those levels, with no choice to make, and they often change the skill’s role. The Gladiator’s Wrath Wave, for instance, gains up to +20% damage with more targets at level 5, strips 20% Attack from the target at level 10, hits once more at level 15 and gains 25% Knockdown chance at level 20.

  • Take every stigma to level 5 first: 5 shards, first specialization.
  • Then push your core stigma to 10, then 15, before the others.
  • Do not rush a stigma to 20: levels 16 to 20 cost more than the first 15 combined.
  • Test a stigma at levels 1 to 5, where mistakes are cheap, before committing 40 shards.

How to build your 4 stigmas

Game8 sums up the rule: PvE favors damage and boss utility, PvP favors mobility, control and defense. In practice, aim for balance:

  • A damage or speed amplifier: Vaizel’s Authority (Ranger, +20% Attack), Lunge Stance (Gladiator, +20% Combat Speed) or Element Enhancement (Sorcerer, +20% fire and water Attack).
  • An area hit on 4 targets: Explosive Arrow, Fire Wall or Lifestealing Blade.
  • A survival tool: the Sorcerer’s Steel Barrier (a shield worth 16% of max HP), the Chanter’s Guardian Blessing or the Ranger’s Mother Nature’s Breath.
  • A group stigma if your class has one: Undefeated Mantra, Light of Protection or Nezekan’s Shield.

Best stigmas per class on Global (4 slots)

These picks follow the site’s group builds. The first stigma is the one to equip at level 22; the PvE list gives the 4 endgame stigmas, and the last column the useful PvP swaps.

Two useful notes. The Cleric swaps Noble Aura for Summon Resurrection in raids, and the Cleric’s Light of Protection does not stack with the Chanter’s Undefeated Mantra: with both classes, one of them takes Absolution or Benevolence instead. Among Korea’s top 100 Clerics, Earth Punishment and Light of Protection are among the most adopted stigmas (Vortex Gaming).

Global or Korea: what changes

Korean guides built on 6 stigmas at level 25 therefore cannot be copied: for example, the Assassin’s Illusive Clone becomes almost permanent there thanks to a tier 25 that does not exist on Global. Keep those guides for ideas, and fit the choice to your 4 slots.

Mistakes that waste shards

  • Spreading shards evenly across 4 stigmas: take them all to 5, then focus on the core stigma.
  • Copying a Korean 6-stigma, level 25 build without cutting it to 4.
  • Equipping your class’s Assault stigma (120 s cooldown) out of habit: it is the core of none of our builds.
  • Forgetting the PvP preset: in duels, the useful stigmas are defensives and controls.
  • Resetting without reading the confirmation window: the reset cost is not published on Global.
  • Ignoring free sources: rift quests, achievements, Nightmare and Shugo Festival shops.

To put it all into practice, open your recommended build: it lists your class’s 4 stigmas by content. The Skills page details each stigma, from cooldown to specializations. For Abyss shards, head to the Abyss and PvP guide.

Takeaway: 4 slots at levels 22, 27, 32 and 37; 75 shards per level 20 stigma; all to level 5 first, then your core stigma to 10 and 15. Buy nothing in a shop before you have seen the price.
