How to lower your ping in AION 2: server, connection and ping reducers

In AION 2, dodges, skill chains and aerial PvP in the Abyss come down to tenths of a second. Fix what is in your hands first: a ping reducer only helps when the route to the server is the problem.

First: play on a server in your region

Ping mostly depends on the distance between you and the server. On Global, servers are grouped by region (Europe, North America East and West, South America, Asia): play in yours. A character created in a distant region will keep a high ping whatever your settings.

Stabilize your connection

  • Ethernet cable rather than Wi-Fi: the clearest gain in stability, especially at busy hours.
  • Stop what is loading in the background on your network: downloads, updates, video streaming.
  • If your ping suddenly jumps, restart your router; also update your network card driver.
  • Compare at the hours you usually play: in the evening, internet providers' networks are busier.

When a ping reducer helps

If your connection is stable but your ping stays high, because you play far from your server or your internet provider takes a poor route, a ping reducer can help: it sends the game's traffic along a chosen route to the server. It does not fix saturated Wi-Fi or a network busy with other uses.

These tools act on your connection's route, not on the game client. NCSOFT alone decides what is allowed: if in doubt, read AION 2's operation policies.

Measure before and after

Compare your in-game ping over several evenings, at the hours you play, with and without the tool. Keep it only if the difference shows in combat: dodges that land, smooth skill chains, fewer rubber-bands in PvP.

Is a ping reducer useful in Europe?

Rarely if you play on a European server with a stable wired connection. It mainly helps players far from their server, or whose internet provider takes a poor route.

Does NCSOFT allow it?
